Group Communication Support for Distributed Multimedia and CSCW
Systems
Maetro is a middleware support tool for distributed multimedia and
collaborative computing applications. There applications share a
common need for managing multiple sugroups while providing a possibly
different quality-of-service guarantees for each of these groups.
Maestro's functiuonality maps well into these requirements, and can
sinificantly shorten the development time of such applications. In this
paper, we report on Maestro, and demonstrate its itility in implementing
IMUX, a pseudo X-server (proxy) for collaborative computing applications.
Examples of other multimedia applications that benefit from
Maestro appear in the full version of the paper.
